he believes I will enjoy Canada

So we're back from our vacation with family and friends in Georgia for the holidays; it was swell.

We did some 'drifting with the ever amazing Ben Rice last night. Boy, he really is good.

I can't wait to get into the good college football bowls her in the next few days....woot! Go SEC!

Here's my list of best iPhone/iPod Touch Apps that I currently have:

not engaged, rather, texting from the balcony

I hate acne. I look like Rudolph this morning,

So we're going back to Georgia for the holidays. How fun.

As. She's so lovely.

Help! I need somebody. Help! Not just anybody.

Man. I like Jay's P-Bass. I really want one now.

AEI

No matter what anyone else says, I think President Bush is a very intelligent guy who has been put forth into the worst of global situations, and then made some good calls and some bad.

He really is a good guy. I'm watching him on CSPAN-2 right now and he is explaining much of his presidency and he is doing a splendid job.

Yet! We do need to start really praying for our new president elect, and hope that he can make the tough calls that he will be criticized for as well.

The Power Shoes/ The Color Red

If they don't like it, I'll kick them.

Craig stayed up til 2, working on his video like any truly good editor. Good man.

Hmm. He should be here.

James is here today with his sister, but where's Kaitlin?

Ginny Owens. 'Nuff said. As a piano student myself, I will occaisionally play in complete darkness so as to train myself in knowing exactly where the keys are. It's blind musicians like Ginny though that are truly impressive in this art.

Camera 3, Jay PG-Board-Member, needs to male his movements smoother.

I'll have to talk with James later and see what's the word.

I'm not there.

I'm not at church this morning. I'm sick. Bleh.

Two weeks left in the semester! And then it's some hardcore Pilotdrift action!

Sunday, November 30, 2008

Apparently I'm good at technical and musical things. Or so says Kim.

The "Name of All Names" is always done really well.

I could hear both the bourdon stop on the organ and the second alto from the right on the ensemble a bit too strong.

Camera 3 is obviously a little crooked to the right when seen on a wide stage shot.

"Don just got it." [chuckles]

Pastor Jeff has been given the oppurtunity for a weekly Sunday slot on TBN. This is huge for him, his ministry, and our church, but will require a budget 2&1/2 times that of the church's current yearly budget. Daunting, yes. But we believe that God will make a way if this is what He wants us to do.

Ooh. I don't feel so good.

I'm a sellout...or perhaps a sell-in?

I'm staying up for the next few hours to partake in 4-in-the-morning Black Friday shopping.

Hope I can get some stuff knocked out.

the slow death of the wheeled white thing.

The crowd really appears to be pitted in darkness on the video monitors.

Ponty's battery gave out for the second time this morning. Sigh. Poor thing.

I can't believe that people actually watched someone's suicide on a webcam the other day. It's deplorable.

Oh! Dead pixel in the lower-right quadrant of camera 2!

Hmm. Finances. Finances. Finances.

It's funny how dad's camera directing can sound like submarine commanding.

Headroom on 2.

Ru-diculous.

My fellow present and past Tigers, you have been robbed.

Some may say that a game can never really be determined by the referees, but today, I beg to differ.

Mr. Sideline Ref with the glasses. You sir, are a disgrace to your side-profession.

The ejections. The anal attitude. The obscure calls. And yes, we checked the replay, Cobi had the football securely in the end zone and had a good touchdown. You sir, were just the works.

Let me sum your whole performance up as follows: you ejected the head coaches' son (the ballboy) because you didn't like the way he threw it to you. I was standing very close nearby when this happened. He did a simple, kinda quarterback style throw. You however cannot apparently catch a ball and looked foolish. Of course this was to your disliking, and you ejected the poor lad from the field. A ballboy. Ejected.

You are a trip sir, an absolute trip.

Sigh.

the french horns stumbled for a second.

The "Ode to Freedom" concert web exceptionally well tonight. The Texarkana Symphony Orchestra and Regional Chorale were superb. And of course, Bougie's hair did it's little flips and flops as he conducted.

Now I need to see about getting him and Mrs. Goode paid tomorrow.

Alex put a password on his computer. Jerkface. Now I can't get anything done tonight as far as the 'Drift goes.

Password hint: "Sorry!" P'cha.

Well then, I suppose I'll go and practice for the piano contest this weekend and the 2nd student recital on Monday.

Ta ta.

room #266's clock is really annoying

Everything that could go wrong, did today in the TV ministry. Thank God that we didn't need yodey's service for broadcast.

Rachel apparently doesn't like her life size portrait blazened next to the college administration building.

Destroying retinas to superimpose images of stars and the name "Jay" is fun when done with über bright LEDs.

Larry can always instill such awe in the facilities.

YA-A-TE 2008

Tyler Junior College has a fairly nice campus; TC needs to take a page out of their book.

Because that's the way the British did it. Aha.

I'm starting to feel that our student gov't at TC is second-class to everyone else.

Navarro people are diverse; some are snobs, and some aren't.

I tripped and fell earlier while walking across campus in our huge group. Awkward.

A girl said that I dressed cute.

Man, there has got to be something better than Robert's Rules of Order. It is rediculous.

I could have been doing better things.

Arrg.

I'm so tired right now.

Boss put two "good looking" commercials on my shoulders to be done within the next seven (7) hours.

One down, but I'm going to be half awake for this next one.

What a week.

The Renegade, stemming from his Renaissance influences, brings Radiance to the earthly Rosebud.

Haha!

PAL is not what we need.

It's funny when technology gets confused.

I directed the TV production of the service today; always fun.

High socks and lo-top converse chucks are warm.

Bobby was astounded that I had a working guitar and piano on my iPod.

...and the page turns.

Barack Hussein Obama is the 44th POTUS.

Take it or leave it. May America's King Saul live to see his David.

Sunday, November 2, 2008

Mr. Harris has an excellent voice.

The light splashes from the cymbals onto the left projector screen is really distracting; especially when I'm running lights.

I want to study the intracacies of the harmonics of or orchestral stringed instruments.

I want to record all four organs that I interact with and produce a four-part organ song.

Ha, you can't have miracles in the laboratory.

We're so sheltered here, nestled in the buckle of the Bible Belt. I think a lot of people here would be devastated at how people think and live in other parts of the country.

Mockery! Ridicule!

Okay, yeah. Sarah Palin is mocked on SNL, but she partook in it as well.

Anyway, check this out: A Righteous Vote

a righteous vote

Jeff is doing a splendid job with remainng neutral in a sermon about the upcoming election.

I'm buying a Hammond M3 tone-wheel organ this afternoon. I cannot adequately express to anyone how excited I am.

Kelly and Heather's apartment is so stinking neat.

White balance vectorscopes seriously look like some sort of instrument out of Star Wars; like from the Death Star warming up to destroy. Oh, and surely you all know that the bar the guy pulled down to launch that laser is a crossfade dissolve bar to a major video switcher.

Facts are facts.

My Kim got a Macbook Pro recently from her parents. Go her.

I didn't like it at first but the background lights behind Jeff do look good, especially when he's directly in front of one.

Yes, a leader must have Godly character.

And hey, all you doubters out there. Yes, Pilotdrift IS coming out with a new album early next year.

I have a (free) calculator in my iPod!

To the lady sitting behind me after my piece at tonight's student recital,
There are multiple versions and arrangements of "Ave Maria". In fact, probably much more than ever needed. Please don't look at a title and think that that song is too easy or too hard for these students; it's a tad judgmental.

I enjoyed my grandfather's ol' suit. It was comfy. I found a napkin in the pocket too.

I seem to get apprehensive about my daunting class/work/life schedule sometimes, feeling that I'll get hopelessly behind on things. Yet, it never happens that way. I'm getting things done.

Go Rachel and Sifan.

Sunday, October 19, 2008

My car is whiny.

Got to look out and not be the one who sits down too early in choir next time.

Somebody drove up into our yard, egged the house, and left gauges of tire tracks. Darn hooligans.

The new Macbook lines are bittersweet.

Alright, time for some Musician's Circle-manage-ness.

Boy-O-Boy! Community Awareness!

I personally don't think that giving a cause/issue/personal vendetta its own week or month is really the best we as people can do towards promoting the betterment of those items.

I don't personally have a better alternative for such at 4:04 in the afternoon, but maybe later.

Just thought that briefly right before we shoot our community events-based show, "Out & About with Joann Rice". *Another shameless plug*

Oh, and for your sake. Eat to live. Do not live to eat.

Espys are the Besties

So, ESPN rocks.

As a television professional, I'm really nit-picky about what I'm watching on TV and completely over analyze anything production wise. Granted, I work in small-time local television, but with an Emmy winning, 25+ veteran of this business for a father, you tend to pick up on things.

That being said, I believe ESPN to have he absolute best production value on cable TV.

Unlike major news networks like CNN or FOXNews who have some pretty huge goofs (FOX, you got to turn off mics sometimes and not allow your anchors to curse on-air!), ESPN brings professionalism and entertainment to everything they do. Their commercials, hilarious and witty. Their anchors and hosts, accurate and well versed in their fields (hint, hint MSNBC). Their shows, pleasing and well driven.

And have you seen their innovations lately? I mean, it's been around for a few years now, but do you realize how hard it is to make those first down markers and other on field graphics in a virtual 3D space that players can cross over in real-time? Like, really hard. And they've taken that concept one step further in their analysis segments now by recreating plays digitally and creating a 3D world for analysts to literally walk through and explain what's going on.

I love it.

'Bout to shoot some Sports Report action. Check it out on KTEV-TV Ch15 on Texarkana's CableONE!

glasses look nice on her

I don't enjoy being late to big band rehearsal at church; especially when I live just down the road.

Dad lost a tape. I really want to make this sentence with the last one but it's not coming to me.

Telca is directing today. She still makes a few mistakes, but she's definately improved.

Alex's Heath Ledger-Joker bobble head doll seems out of place in a church TV control room.

Things that bobble are cool though.

Jon Foreman has some of the most heartfelt EPs in the world.

Th-Th-Theremin!

That's all for now.

a preface to chaos

Alright now ladies and gentlemen, here's how it goes.

This blog will be about a variety of things; not really pinned or tied down to one particular item or other. It shall be brief, as witty as possible, and simple. Like an anecdote.

For those of you who don't know what an anecdote is, I'm terribly sorry. It's your loss.

One of the things I will keep consistent however are my observations from Sunday morning service at my church, whether from front of house or the choir loft. Like today; the choir was really good on their special and Curtis and Madison showed up. A pleasant surprise indeed. However, there was still some green bleeding from the Broadcast Pix.

I don't necessarily expect anyone to comprehend most of this, but if you do, kudos.

That is all for now.
